A few of us need your prayers this day

This day, some of us around here are facing battles far too large to win them on our own. For anyone reading this, I ask that you would take a few moments and whether you know who is in desperate need of prayer or not, PRAY.

Sometimes we can look at Goliath and fearlessly confront him and beat him. Other times we look at what is happening and it appears to our feeble eyes to be too big for us to handle. Guess what, IT IS. David only was victorious over Goliath because of his faith that God would give him the victory. Left to his own wiles, David would have been squashed like a June bug.

Some of us are facing extremely difficult decisions which will determine a multitude of things and people in our lives. Some of us are fighting tooth and nail to stay above the water financially. Some of us are engaged in raging battles regarding our health. Instead of quoting some verse about being more than conquerors, we should reach out to our family for prayer support and cover.

Far too many times we all have been guilty of racing into battle all alone and suddenly finding ourselves outnumbered and outgunned. More than once, I have had to turn around and run as fast as I could back to the security of the family of God. Asking for prayer is really nothing more or less than reaching out to our brothers and sisters and asking them to help you deal with whatever is going on.

Prayer is the wind beneath our wings and allows us to sail above the enemy. Prayer is the healing balm of Gilead which soothes our wounds. Prayer is the iron fist of unity displayed proudly to the enemies who think they are better or bigger. Prayer is the backbone that keeps us from falling to pieces when things do not work out as we desire.

I need your prayers this day for some daunting physical issues seeking to dismantle me. Others need your prayers this day for wisdom and strength as they sit face to face with enemy agents seeking their destruction professionally. Others need your prayers this day as they face a rash of personal situations that are seeking to overthrow their faith. Others need your prayers this day to keep from making horrible decisions that would devastate their families.

Anyone who claims they do not need prayer is only lying to themselves. We all need prayer and we all need to pray for each other more and more as we see the Day approaching. I urge all of us to spend a little extra time today in prayer not only for those people and needs we know about, but for anyone and everyone who is struggling and needs their burden lifted. After all, the greatest thing prayer does is to lift the burden off the shoulders of someone who is struggling and collectively placing it on everyone's shoulders.
